For more than 50 years Alvenius has been supplying the mining market around the world with corrosion protected pipe systems.
Hot Dip Galvanized Pipe Systems
Hot dip galvanized pipe systems are beeing used in underground applications such as transport of water, compressed air, dewatering, slurry and back filling. Alvenius offers two complete pipe systems, K10 or type Victaulic. K10 is a shouldered system based on metric standard for pressures up to 25 bar (360 psi) and Victaulic a grooved system based on ISO standard for pressures up to 70 bar (1000 psi). Diameter range 48 mm – 610 mm (2" – 24"). High quality, low weight combined with the quick coupling system result in low cost for installation, long durability and a minimum need of maintenance.
Thermoplastic Coated Steel Pipe System (TP Pipes)
The Alvenius steel pipe system, inside and outside coated with thermoplastic, combines the strength of steel and resistance of thermoplastic to cope with a wide variety of corrosive media. The pipes and fittings are joined using Alvenius quick couplings or flanges which eliminates expensive and time consuming welding. Pressures up to 70 bar (1000 psi). Diameter range 89 mm – 610 mm (3"-24") The products have an extremely good adhesion so there is no risk of scaling or cracking. Elongation at break is 800 %. Working temperature continuous in air + 65 deg. C /150 deg. F.
The TP pipes are beeing used in applications such as heap leaching for copper, gold and zink, dewatering, process water, fire fighting and for media with acid water, high content of chloride or salt.
The TP pipes have superior resistance to pitting corrosion and have a significantly longer service life than for example stainless steel 316L.
Industries And Applications - SNOW MAKING
During second part of the sixties ski resorts and companies within snowmaking realized the benefits of Alvenius pipe systems. The biggest benefits were low weight, quick assembly, good corrosion resistance and mechanical protection. The purpose of the piping was to transport water and compressed air to the snowmaking guns.
Since then Alvenius has supplied pipe systems to ski resorts all over Europe, some deliveries have also been made to Japan and China. Over the years many of our customers have made yearly extensions and new installations with Alvenius pipe systems.
Now, forty years later, Alvenius is one of the leading suppliers of pipe systems for snowmaking in Europe. Today Alvenius even has a special product range for snowmaking named Snowline. Complete pipe systems for pressures up to 70 bar (1000 psi) are available. As most of the pipes are buried into the ground they sometimes need an extra corrosion protection, even though many of our customers use our Snowline system with “only” hot dip galvanizing. To achieve this protection Snowline is available with in- and outside thermoplastic coating (TP-pipes).
The best protection will of course be achieved with the thermoplastic coated pipe system, TP-system. This system also provides other benefits such as:
• Longer service life
• Approved for potable water (in case of using the same pipeline)
• Low coefficient of friction
• Electrically insulated
• Even faster assembly (no need for taping of pipe fittings etc)
Industries And Applications - CONSTRUCTION
Alvenius is a global supplier of pipe systems to the tunnelling market and to hydro power station projects. The steel pipe systems can be offered with the following surface treatments: Hot dip galvanized, thermoplastic coated and untreated. Most of the tunnelling projects use hot dip galvanized pipes for transport of water and compressed air and thermoplastic coated steel pipes, (TP pipes) for permanent fire mains.

The TP pipes are beeing used in applications such as permanent fire mains, dewatering, and for media with acid water, high content of chloride or salt. The products are also superb for high pressure applications. The TP pipes have superior resistance against corrosion and have a signific-antly longer service life than for example piping in stainless steel 316L.

During the last few years we have noticed an increased demand for Alvenius quick connection pipe systems from a diversity of industries. The quick assembly without flame, or messy cutting oils and chips, and with a minimum of bolts, has great appeal for many users. This together with the superb corrosion resistance of the thermoplastic coated pipe systems have made Alvenius pipe systems a serious alternative to stainless steel piping.
